About Tourism College of Zhejiang
Tourism College of Zhejiang (TCZJ) is a public college of higher tourism education under the administration of both the National Tourism Administration of the People’s Republic of China and the People’s Government of Zhejiang Province. Among all the national tourism colleges in China, TCZJ was the first to pass TedQual by UNWTO in 2010. Therefore, it has been regarded as one of the key colleges in China specialized in tourism education.
Located by the Qiantang River, TCZJ covers an area of 100 acres with a floor space of more than 205,000 square meters. Among its 361 full-time teachers, 110 enjoy senior professional titles. TCZJ now has ten schools and departments, namely School of Hotel Management, Travel Service Management Department, Tourism Planning Department, Foreign Language Department, Art Department, Culinary Arts Department, Business Administration Department, Social Sciences Department, School of International Education and School of Continuing Education. These schools and departments offer 25 majors with Hotel Management, Tour Guiding, Culinary Arts and Nutrition, Tourist Attraction Development and Management, Convention & Exhibition Planning and Management, Tourism English and In-flight Service as flagship ones. At present the college has an enrollment of 9,300 full-time students from about 24 provinces in China.
TCZJ is now running three Sino-foreign cooperative schooling projects with the approval of the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China. So far, the college has established friendly and cooperative relations with 22 institutions of higher learning from 15 countries and regions, such as Soonchunhyang University of South Korea, Ecole Hoteliere De Lausanne of Switzerland, William Angliss Institute of Australia, National Kaohsiung University of Hospitality and Tourism of Taiwan, and Macao Institute of Tourism. Every year, the number of students engaged in studying, training, practicing and visiting abroad accounts for over 8% of the total.
TCZJ has managed to establish close relationship with tourism industry by carrying out the Six “One-hundred” Cooperative Programs between TCZJ and a number of well-known industries both at home and abroad. Thanks to these efforts, on the one hand, the college teachers and students can have up-to-date hands-on experiences. On the other hand, relevant industries can benefit a lot from the technical and manpower support from the college. For example, up to now, 3,460 students have been involved in these programs, taking up 40.9% of the total.
Adhering to the motto of “Relying on Tourism Industry, Emphasizing Work-study Combination, and Insisting on International Orientation”, TCZJ, as one of the high-profile tourism colleges in China, has been cultivating tourism talents with dedication, social responsibility, philanthropic spirit and international vision.
